When you come to Dental Associates of South Carolina, you will be provided with a wide range of general and cosmetic dental services to help you achieve a beautiful smile. Our dental team has the expertise and knowledge needed to provide every patient with the care they deserve. With a warm and welcoming environment, patients feel comfortable and can ask any questions they may have about their dental treatment.

Services we offer include, but are not limited to:

Routine Exams

It is suggested that patients should be seen

for a routine exam every 6 months or as recommended by your dentist. During your exam, we may need to take X-rays to help detect possible cavities in between teeth that cannot be seen by the naked eye.  Our dentists are compassionate, gentle and desire to help you achieve and maintain a healthy smile for life.

Dental Hygiene

We suggest patients be seen for a dental cleaning and routine exam every 6 months. During the cleaning, plaque and calculus will be removed from your teeth leaving behind a bright and polished smile.  Our dentist will do a routine examination to make sure there are no areas for concern, and if so, will develop a plan of action to help you achieve a healthy smile.

Dental Fillings

When a tooth is affected by decay, fractures, or cracks, a dental filling is needed to restore the tooth. In a single dental appointment, the decayed or injured portion of the tooth will be removed, and the tooth cleaned and filled. Composite fillings can be matched to the color of your existing tooth. Since the color is the same as your original tooth, the filling will look aesthetically pleasing and restore your teeth to a healthy, beautiful smile.

Periodontal Services

Though your mouth may feel healthy and you may not have any symptoms, periodontal disease can progress without a patient knowing. If left untreated, periodontal disease can destroy the supporting bones in your mouth. This is why early treatment and prevention is so important! Your dentist will make sure you are receiving the highest quality of care that will assist in preventing periodontal disease from developing.

Dentures & Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.

There are two types of dentures – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.

A complete denture may be either “conventional” or “immediate.” A conventional type is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, usually taking 4 to 6 weeks. During this time the patient will go without teeth. Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments will have to be made.

Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years, but may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear.

Crowns & Bridges

Crowns are necessary when a tooth is severely damaged or has suffered from advanced decay and cannot be fixed with bonded filling material. Crowns cover the remaining tooth and restore its function, strength, and esthetics. Several crown material options are available including non-metal crowns. Your dentist will discuss these on an individual basis depending on the area of the mouth that needs to be restored.

Bridges can be utilized when tooth loss occurs due to gum disease, decay, or injury. The loss of the tooth can create greater problems for your dental health if it is not corrected. The teeth next to the missing tooth (or teeth) can begin to move and result in pain, discomfort, and can look unsightly. With bridges, your dentist will close any gaps in your mouth. The bridge looks and acts just like natural teeth, is permanently cemented, and helps to maintain the position of the rest of your teeth.

Teeth Whitening

After receiving teeth whitening from Ross & Frederickson DDS, you will begin to notice your smile getting whiter and brighter. With our quality teeth whitening services, the staining from coffee, tea, and smoking will begin to fade, leaving behind a white smile. If you are considering teeth whitening for your smile, reach out to us so we can schedule a consultation with you to see if you are a good candidate.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells that your dentist uses to improve the appearance of your smile. Your dentist will bond the veneers to the surface of your teeth to correct certain dental flaws. Your porcelain veneers are customized for a perfect fit and natural appearance. When in place, porcelain veneers can:

  • Close spaces between the teeth

  • Lighten and brighten the teeth

  • Improve the beauty of your smile

  • Repair chips, wear, or cracks in teeth

  • Correct teeth that are misshapen, crooked, or uneven

The procedure usually requires two visits to our office to complete. When your veneers are in place, you can enjoy a radiant new smile.

Fluoride Treatment

Periodically we will suggest a fluoride treatment for your teeth. It’s a simple and quick process and can be done during your routine exam. No extra appointment is necessary. Fluoride is a mineral that helps prevent tooth decay and is applied to your teeth. This strengthens the enamel so your smile will be as strong as ever.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are now a cornerstone of dentistry and provide the best option for replacing missing teeth in certain situations. We will provide a comprehensive evaluation if you have missing teeth and are considering dental implant therapy. We have multiple options available for replacing a single missing tooth or the entire dentition. We strive to make this option affordable for all our patients, so you can enjoy the full benefits of this technology.

If you're self-conscious about your smile, LUMINEERS can completely transform your smile in just two simple visits. LUMINEERS are contact-thin veneers made out of porcelain that are fitted to the patient's teeth without the need of grinding, shaving, or drilling. They are an easy solution for chipped, misaligned, or discolored teeth. LUMINEERS resist staining, so after they are placed, you will never have to worry about your smile fading from discoloration. If you believe LUMINEERS could be the best option for your smile, feel free to reach out to us today!

Dermal Fillers

Our dentists provide patients with a wide variety of cosmetic services and products, including dermal fillers to help make your smile truly beautiful. Dermal fillers consist of small injections of Restylane or Radiesse that fill in any fine lines or wrinkles you want to hide. Achieve a natural, youthful look without the need for costly plastic surgery! Dermal fillers generally last 6 months to 2 years, so follow up injections will need to be made.

Digital X-Rays

Dental x-rays are a great preventive, diagnostic tool that provides important information not visible during a routine dental exam. Our dental team will utilize this important information to safely and accurately detect any dental abnormalities and then create an accurate treatment plan.

Dental x-rays help to reveal:

  • Bone loss

  • Decay between teeth

  • Poor tooth & root positions

  • Problems happening inside a tooth

  • Issues below the gum line

  • Developing cancerous & non-cancerous tumors

  • Any cysts

  • & More

Sealants are a very efficient and successful method for preventing decay on the biting surfaces of teeth. They are primarily placed on the permanent molars as they erupt in a child’s mouth. The sealants are maintained throughout childhood and can last well into adulthood. Sealants are made of a flowable resin that is applied to the deep pits and fissures of teeth protecting them from harmful acids and plaque build up commonly found in the mouth. The application of sealants is a simple procedure requiring a short appointment and are proven to be effective in preventing decay in children.
